Bargarh: A pal of gloom descended over the small town of Attabira in Bargarh after Jivardhan Bhoi, a young man in his early 20s, died of COVID on his wedding day.

The tragic incident was reported on May 27, the day Bhoi was all set to tie the knot and dreamt of living a blissful conjugal life.

However, fate had different plans for him as he was diagnosed with COVID19 on May 17 and hospitalised.

Though the relatives hoped for the best, Bhoi, who worked in a private organisation in Sambalpur could not survive to see his bride on their wedding day.

“He was an amiable person and never wronged anybody. He would have married on May 27 but COVID took him away from us,” said a grieving relative of Bhoi.

It is worthwhile to mention here that, 405 COVID positive cases were recorded in Bargarh district in the last 24 hours.

As far as the daily cases in the State is concerned, the single-day spike in Covid-19 cases in Odisha witnessed a drastic fall with only 6,736 people testing positive for the virus in last 24 hours even as there is no break in the rising cases of fatalities. The State recorded 34 fatalities during the period taking the death tally to 2618.
