The Covid-19 daily positive count in Odisha dropped below 3,000-mark for the second time in the last four days. However, deaths due to the virus continued unabated in the State. 

As many as 2,912 people tested positive for the infection while 40 patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, informed the Information and Public Relations Department on Friday.

Worth mentioning here, the State had recorded 2,957 Coronavirus cases on June 21.

The fresh cases pushed the Covid-19 positive tally to 8,93,508 and death toll to 3,801, as per the data revealed by the Health and Family Welfare Department

With this, Odisha now has 33,156 active cases, while 8,56,498 people have recovered from the disease so far, including 3,486  on Thursday.

Of the fresh Covid-19 cases reported from the 30 districts, 1,675 are quarantine cases, while the rest 1,237 are local contact cases, added the I&PR Department.

Khordha district, which included the capital Bhubaneswar, reported the highest 401 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Cuttack (382), Jajpur (292), Balasore (220), Mayurbhanj (174), Puri (161), Nayagarh (140), Bhadrak (136), Jagatsinghpur (131) and Angul (119).

As many as 20 districts reported cases below 100. Those are- Kendrapara (71), Sundargarh (71), Keonjhar (70), Koraput (54), Rayagada (52), Nabarangpur (50), Malkangiri (49), Dhenkanal (42), Kandhamal (36), Kalahandi (35), Bargarh (31), Sambalpur (30), Ganjam (18), Boudh (18), Jharsuguda (14), Sonepur (13), Gajapati (13), Bolangir (12), Nuapada (8) and Deogarh (4).

In terms of death, nine fatalities were reported from Khordha district, five each from Bargarh, Cuttack and Nayagarh districts, three from Angul. Two each deaths were reported from Balasore, Bhadrak, Bolangir, Boudh, Puri and Sundargarh, one from Ganjam.

The State has so far tested over 1,34,17,387 samples for Covid-19, including 64,255  in the last 24 hours. Odisha's positivity rate stands at 4.53 per cent.
