Amid decline in Covid-19 cases, Odisha reported the highest single-day toll of 59 deaths due to the virus infection on Wednesday taking the overall number of fatalities to 4,358.

At least 10 fatalities were reported from Khordha district, five each from Bargarh, Dhenkanal and Puri, four each from Ganjam, Nayagarh, Rayagada and Sundargarh, three each from Cuttack, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj, two each from Cuttack, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj and one death each was reported from Angul, Jagatsinghpur  and Koraput in the last 24 hours, the State Health Department informed. 

The Covid positive tally in Odisha also rose to 9,29,788 after as many as 2,602 people tested positive for the virus on Wednesday.
The active cases in the State reached 28, 015 while 8,97,362 patients have recovered, including 3,258 on Tuesday, from the disease so far.

Of the fresh Covid-19 cases reported from 30 districts, 1,495 are from quarantine centres, while the rest 1,107 are local contact cases, the data revealed by the I&PR Department stated.

Khordha district reported the highest 529 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Cuttack (397), Jajpur (183), Puri (174), Balasore (164), Mayurbhanj (141).

The districts which registered below 100 cases are Angul (99), Bhadrak (95), Dhenkanal (93), Jagatsinghpur (91), Keonjhar (72), Sundargarh (64), Nayagarh (62), Kendrapara (59), Rayagada (33), Koraput and Malkangiri (32 each), Jharsuguda (26), Sambalpur (25), Boudh (21), Kandhamal (20), Nabarangpur (18), Sonepur (17), Bargarh (13), Kalahandi and Gajapati (9 each), Ganjam (8), Bolangir, Deogarh and Nuapada (5 each).

The State has so far tested over 1,41,88,695 samples for Covid-19, including 63,184 in the last 24 hours.
