Bhubaneswar: Introduction of new flights at both national and international levels along with passengers' security would be his top priorities at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPAI), said Pravat Ranjan Beuria who assumed the charge as the new director of the airport on Tuesday.

Efforts would be made for introducing more flights as air travel services play an important role in the financial growth of the State. Special attention would be given for more international flights, Beuria told OTV.

Steps are being taken to expedite the developmental works of the airport which are pending due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Besides, several projects and international flight services will be expanded, he added.

He further said the tourism sector in the State will also get a boost if more number of airports will come up.

It may be noted that Beuria had played a significant in expansion of Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda airports.

The four-laning of Golden Quadrilateral project was undertaken from Bhubaneswar to Ichhapuram on NH 16 during his tenure as project director of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).

Before joining as the director of Bhubaneswar airport, Beuria had also successfully discharged his duties in the same position at Jammu Airport. Prior to that, he was also the director of Ranchi and Leh airports, sources said.
