The Covid-19 single-day cases continue to dip in Odisha with the State recording 7,002 new cases on Sunday. With this, the positive tally in the State surged to 8,1 3,096, informed the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

At least 42 patients undergoing treatment for Covid-19 succumbed in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 2,994 in the State, a data shared by the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department said.

Of the fresh cases detected across 30 districts of the State on Sunday, a total of 3,921 cases were reported from quarantine centers, while the rest 3,081 were local transmission cases.

Khordha district, which included the State's capital Bhubaneswar, topped the number of cases with 1,167 infections in the last 24 hours. This was followed by Cuttack (771), Jajpur (486), Angul (388), Mayurbhanj (370), Balasore (331) and Puri (306), said a data shared by the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

Other districts which reported cases between 300 and 100 are- Bhadrak (267), Sundargarh (243), Jagatsinghpur (232), Rayagada (222), Nawarangpur (198), Nayagarh (196), Kendrapara (188), Koraput (158), Keonjhar (148),Boudh (134), Bargarh (117), Sambalpur (107), Dhenkanal (106) and Kalahandi (103).

Dictricts which detected below 100 cases are- Jharsuguda (97), Malkangiri (95),Bolangir (89), Ganjam (74), Deogarh (64), Sonepur (59), Gajapati (48), Nuapada (28) and Kandhamal (3).

The active cases in the State stood at 78,031, while 7,32,018 patients have been cured or recovered.

The State has so far tested a total of 1,21,83,116 samples including 71,973 on Saturday. Odisha’s positivity rate stands at 6.67 per cent.
