Fatalities due to Covid-19 continued to remain on the higher side in Odisha with as many as 18 more fatalities being reported in the State on Monday while the daily infections declined further to 3329, down from 4,843 the previous day.

Out of the total deaths linked to the infections, four were reported from the capital city Bhubaneswar, three each from Ganjam and Jajpur, two from Jagatsinghpur, one each from Puri, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack and Bhadrak. 

The fresh fatalities pushed the virus death toll in the State to 8612. 

On Sunday, the State reported 4,843 cases, including 663 from 0 to 18 years age group.

On the other hand, 504 infections were found in the 0-18 years age group out of the total 3329 cases reported in the State today. While 1934 quarantine cases were detected, 1395 were local contacts.

The Covid hotspot Khordha district logged highest 646 cases followed by Cuttack (293), Sundargarh (237), Mayurbhanj (145), Balasore (141), Nuapada (129) and Nayagarh (120).

Angul (85), Bargarh (46), Bhadrak (57), Balangir (67) Boudh (49), Deogarh (67), Dhenkanal (61), Gajapati (64), Ganjam (44). Jagatsinghpur (70), Jajpur (99), Jharsuguda (74), Kalahandi (107), Kandhamal (43), Kendrapada (73), Keonjhar (21) Koraput (59), Malkangiri (34), Nawarangpur (90), Puri (56), Rayagada (66), Sambalpur (115), Sonepur (35), State Pool (136).

The total number of positive cases in the State has now climbed to 1249240 of which 47210 are active cases. So far, 1193365 patients have recovered from the disease in Odisha.
