With the largest vaccination drive in Odisha having been twisted as a political campaign since the beginning of the drive, when ruling BJD had virtually started a letter war with Centre during April -May, reached the climax recently when across the State the outburst of irate BJP cadres spilled on to the roads as the photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi goes missing from the vaccination centres in districts after districts.
Given the dabbling of immunisation with politics in the State, at this explosive juncture, a cursory glance at the data of Harvard University where the progress of vaccination as per parliament constituencies have been released.
Interestingly, the political battle over missing poster of PM has been led by Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, who labelled the 'poster show' in the State as "narrow-minded".
And, incidentally, the desi jab Covaxin, which the opposition parties love to take a jab at by calling it as Modi vaccine, has been administered in Bhubaneswar. And the Parliament constituency topped the chart in the State regarding the proportion of population fully inoculated.

The parliament wise vaccination data released by Harvard university looks very interesting. Here are the top MPs.

- Pinaki Mishra (Puri) - 7.02%
- Pratap Sarangi (Balasore) - 4.01%
- Bhartruhari Mahatab (Cuttack) - 3.99%
- Pramila Bisoyi (Aska) - 3.78%
- Manjulata Mandal (Bhadrak) - 3.72%
- Chandrasekhar Sahu (Behrampur) - 3.71%
- Saptagiri Ulaka (Koraput) - 3.61%

The Game Changer Month
The vaccine supply in Odisha may get a big booster dose from July. The State is likely to get over 85-90 lakh doses every month. During the last 3-days, Odisha has administered nearly 9 crore doses (8.9 crore). Still, immunising a sizable population across the State to acquire herd immunity seems to be a long road.
District-wise Chart
As per Harvard University data, Khordha district has till date inoculated 18.53 per cent of the population. The State Headquarter district leads the chart in the State. Dhenkanal sits at the bottom with around 2.22 per cent population having taken two doses.
Balasore comes a distant second with a value of 4.15 per cent of population having inoculated till date. Jharsuguda follows closely with a value of 4.05 per cent.
- In as many as 14 districts, the proportion of population fully immunised to date is below 3 per cent.
- Only two districts (Balasore and Jharsuguda) have fully vaccinated over 4 per cent of the total population.
- Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's home district (biggest district in population wise) has been ranked at 7th. Over 3.7 per cent population stands immunised as of today.
Scheduled Vs General Districts
The State has a total of 10 tribal districts (Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur) where the tribal population is around 50 per cent of the population.
- 4 tribal districts - Koraput (3.85% population), Gajapati (3.51%), Rayagada (3.31%) and Kandhamal (3%) - figure in top 16 districts.
- Tribal districts in western Odisha where the second wave took a drastic turn in month of May have been lagging behind. Only around 2 per cent population vaccinated fully.

As per the Test Positive Rate on June 23, the top districts in the State are:

- Jajpur (Has currently second highest active cases after Khordha)
- Puri

And the top -10 Vaccinated districts are:
- Khordha
- Balasore
- Jharsuguda
- Cuttack
- Sambalpur
- Koraput
- Ganjam
- Gajapati
- Jagatsinghpur
- Bhadrak
The above comparison shows as many as 6 currently high burden districts are lagging in vaccination coverage among population.
