Bhubaneswar: The Covid-19 related fatalities in the State has turned into a major reason of concern as the number of daily deaths is hovering over 30 for the last few days even as the single-day positive cases has come down drastically.

The State has reported 35 fatalities in last 24 hours with Angul registering maximum five deaths during the period. All the five patients succumbed to the virus while undergoing treatment at various hospitals, Health and Family Welfare Department tweeted.

 Kalahandi and Rayagada district recorded four casualties each due to the contagious virus.

Similarly, three patients died of the Covid 19 in Bhubaneswar, Jharsuguda, Nabarangpur, Sundergarh while two others each in Boudh, Jagatsinghpur, Koraput. 

One patient died each in Cuttack, Malkangiri, Sambalpur and Sonepur districts.
With the fresh 35 deaths, the toll in the State has jumped to 2686.

 

Similarly, the State recorded 7,188 new positive cases in last 24 hours with 4026 being detected from quarantine centres while 3162 are local contact cases.

The cumulative caseload has climbed to 747143 in the State while the active cases stand at 97271 after 11954 fresh recoveries. The total recovery tally has reached 614133.

Khordha has once again grabbed the first spot in the single-day spike with 1134 new infections followed by Cuttack at 690 and Angul at 515 cases.
Puri stood fourth in the row with 457 followed by 406 in Jajpur. Mayurbhanj came next to it with 320 fresh infections.
As many as 271 people tested positive for the virus in Bargarh district during the period while 257 in Boudh and 255 in Dhenkanal district. Nayagarh, Nabarangpur and Koraput district detected 242, 216 and 202 new cases respectively. 

Districts reporting less than 200 cases are Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Sonepur and Sundergarh.

Similarly, districts which witnessed below 100 cases are Bhadrak, Bolangir, Deogarh, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Malkangiri and Nuapada.
