Odisha is currently witnessing a steep rise in the daily Covid-19 cases with 1130 new positive cases being reported from different parts of the state in the past 24 hours.

As per the data shared by the State I&PR department on Saturday, Sundargarh district reported the highest 225 new Covid-19 cases, followed by 209 in Khordha and 111 new cases of infections from Cuttack district.

It is for the fourth consecutive day that Odisha reported daily Covid-19 cases over 1100-mark. Of the 1130 new Covid-19 cases, 143 cases are from the 0-18 years category while 468 are local contact cases, the I &PR department tweeted.

With this, the active Covid-19 cases tally in Odisha reached 7345. The spike in Covid-19 cases has prompted the State health department to swing into action and steps have been augumented for increasing the daily testing in the State.

Local administration has also stepped up measures to intensify vaccination of eligible beneficiaries at their respective areas. After Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, the Berhampur Municipal Corporation had recently issued an advisory asking people to adhere the protocol to check the spread of Covid-19.

The Berhampur Municipal Corporation has also made masks mandatory for people.
