Odisha on Monday reported 67 new deaths due to Covid-19 infection taking the death toll to 6,033 in the pandemic. 

The maximum number of 12 fatalities were reported from Khordha district, 11 from Sundargarh, 10 from Cuttack, six from Puri, five from Dhenkanal, four each from Ganjam and Jagatsinghpur, three each from Angul and Bhadrak, two each from Balasore, Jharsuguda and Kendrapara and one each from Bargarh, Jajpur and Keonjhar.

“This list does not reflect deaths occurring on a particular day. It gives details of past deaths for which the death audit process has been duly completed and the cause of death has been identified as due to Covid-19,” the State Health department informed through its Twitter page.

The Covid positive tally in Odisha also rose to 9,79,737 after as many as 1,032 people tested positive for the virus on Monday. The active cases in the State reached 15,050 while 9,58,601 patients have recovered, including 1,773 on Sunday, from the disease so far.

Of the fresh Covid-19 cases reported from 30 districts, 598 are from quarantine centers, while the rest 434 are local contact cases, the data revealed by the I&PR Department stated.

Khordha district reported the highest 237 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Cuttack (154), Jagatsinghpur and Puri (82 each) and Bhadrak (47).

The State has so far tested over 1,60, 97, 412 samples for Covid-19, including 74,735 in the last 24 hours.
