Odisha on Tuesday reported 60 new deaths due to Covid-19 infection taking the death toll to 5,634 in the pandemic. 

The maximum number of 21 fatalities was reported from Sundargarh district, eight from Khordha, six each from Cuttack and Angul, five each from Keonjhar and Puri, four each from Boudh and Sambalpur, two from Bhadrak and one each from Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Nayagarh.

“This list does not reflect deaths occurring on a particular day. It gives details of past deaths for which the death audit process has been duly completed and the cause of death has been identified as due to Covid-19,” the State Health department informed through its Twitter page.

The Covid positive tally in Odisha also rose to 9,70,814 after as many as 1,629 people tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. The active cases in the State reached 17,746 while 9,47,381 patients have recovered, including 1,569 on Monday, from the disease so far.

Of the fresh Covid-19 cases reported from 30 districts, 939 are from quarantine centres, while the rest 690 are local contact cases, the data revealed by the I&PR Department stated.

Khordha district reported the highest 532 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Cuttack (160), Balasore (93), Jajpur (84) and Bhadrak (76).

The State has so far tested over 1,56,56,204 samples for Covid-19, including 74,553 in the last 24 hours.
