In view of the declining trend of Covid-19 cases in the State, speculations are rife that the Puri Srimandir administration may consider lifting of the darshan curbs for devotees in the first week of August.

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration is going to have a crucial meeting on August 4. While the meeting (virtual) will be presided by the chief administrator of the Srimandir, Puri collector, SP and CDMO among others are likely to attend the discussion.

Darshan of the Holy Trinity by devotees has been barred since the 2nd wave of the Covid-19 pandemic hit the State in April this year.

"It has been over two months since the restrictions were clamped here. This year also, we could not have the darshan of the Lord during Ratha Jatra. The government should at least now open the gates for us," said a devotee.

Earlier also when the government allowed darshan of the Holy Trinity by lifting the restrictions on the entry of the devotees, all the Covid norms were strictly followed. Devotees will definitely adher to the norms during darshan if they are allowed into the Srimandir, said another devotee.

Earlier, all the rituals of the annual Ratha Jatra in Puri were observed sans devotees keeping in view the Covid-19 pandemic.
