A non-resident Odia (NRO) doctor based in Australia has come forward to help people in his native place in the State in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic by donating 15 life-saving oxygen concentrators.
Doctor Chittaranjan Joshi who originally hails from Bolangir donated the oxygen concentrators to the district headquarters hospital. The approximate market price of the concentrators is said to be Rs 10.50 lakh.
“It is a welcome step and we thank him for this noble gesture. The oxygen concentrators can be used in our hospital and many patients will be benefited from it,” said Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Bhima Sahu.

Born in Talpalipada, Joshi completed his MBBS at VIMSAR, Burla and MS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. He moved to Australia and now adopted citizenship there and treating patients.
The District Collector of Bolangir also praised Dr Joshi for supporting the fight against Covid-19. “The District Administration of Balangir is thankful to Dr. Chittaranjan Joshi and his team for providing 15 oxygen concentrators to DHH balangir from Australia. This will strengthen our efforts in covid management,” tweeted the Bolangir Collector.
