In a tragic incident, a woman lost her husband to Covid-19 moments after she sought help before camera for the treatment. 

The heart wrenching incident has been reported from Bhagabanpur village under Marshaghai block in Kendrapara district.

According to sources, Umakanta Nayak of the village was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar after he tested positive for Covid-19. However, doctors advised his family members to shift Nayak outside Odisha for better treatment after his lungs were found to be damaged by over 50 per cent due to the infections.

Finding no other option to raise the money required for the  treatment, Nayak's wife sought help from the people of the State through OTV when the reporter of the most-watched news channel of Odisha went to her residence to share her plight before people.

When the family members were narrating their ordeal to OTV and seeking help for the treatment, the news of Nayak's death reached the family, leaving them stunned, devastated and broken.

"Nayak's death has left five-member family is despair. He was the only earner in the family. When he was admitted to the hospital, we villagers collected some money for his treatment. But, that was not enough. Now, his death has brought a blanket of grief in the village," said Rubina Rani, a villager.

"A puja was organised to for the wellbeing of Nayak. But, before the puja could conclude, the news of his death knocked our ears" said Gagan Bihari Mishra, a local  priest.
