Jagatsinghpur district administration has clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC at Maa Sarala Pitha during the ongoing Durga Puja in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The order will come into effect from today and continue till October 14.

The district administration issued the prohibitory orders in and around the temple keeping in view the huge rush of devotees during Dussehra.

“A large number of devotees visit the Goddess during Durga Asthami and Dasami every year from inside and outside the State. The situation will lead to spread of Covid-19. In order to check the surge of the pandemic, the administration has clamped the prohibitory orders,” said an official.

As per the order, more than four persons can’t assemble in one place at a time.

The district administration has also ordered the temple administration to perform the rituals in a low-key manner with less number of priests and servitors.

According to top Odisha health officials, the pandemic has subsided in the State with much difficulty. People need to be more careful and avoid the rush during the Puja times to keep the third surge of the pandemic at bay.
