Odisha has seen a marginal rise in the daily cases of Covid-19 in the last two days. The State has reported a total of 3631 new infections in the last 24 hours with 2069 cases out of them detected from quarantines. Similarly, 1562 new cases have been reported as local contact infections. 

Khordha has seen the biggest surge of 506 cases followed by Cuttack with 438 infections in the last one day. Most of the coastal and adjoining interior districts continue to exhibit relatively high number of cases in triple digits. Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Puri and Angul have reported 305, 178, 262, 199 and 204 new positives during the  period.

Several other districts where the government has eased restrictions to partial lockdown have witnessed considerably low number of cases.

The State has reported a fall in the number of single-day deaths to 39. Khordha has seen the maximum of 6 fatalities followed by 4 deaths each in Puri, Jharsuguda, Cuttack and Sundargarh.

The total Covid cases in Odisha meanwhile have surged to 866692. With 5579 new recoveries reported on Wednesday, the total number of recovered cases have climbed to 817359. Similarly, there are a total of 45809 active cases in the State right now. 

With tests of 63421 samples in the last 24 hours, the total number of tests in the State have risen to 12899855.

After witnessing a sharp fall, the daily Covid cases in the State have slightly made an upward curve in the last 2 days. Odisha has reported 3535 and 3405 new cases on June 16 and 15.
