Bhubaneswar: There is no relief from the single-day Covid-19 fatalities in Odisha even as the daily positive cases on Tuesday dipped to below 3000-mark, a record low in over last two months. The State recorded 38 deaths due to the virus infection in last 24 hours taking its cumulative death tally to 3,671.

Khordha accounted for the maximum fatalities with six deaths while Cuttack and Bargarh witnessed five deaths each. Four fatalities each have been reported from Mayurbhanj and Puri.

Similarly, Sambalpur district registered three deaths and Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda saw two casualties due to the Coronavirus.
One patient succumbed to the disease each in Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Keonjjhar, Koraput, Sundergarh and Ganjam districts.

Out of a total 2957 new cases reported in the last one day, 1698 cases have been detected from quarantine while 1259 are local contact infections.

As many as 4587 people have recovered from the disease over the period taking the recovery tally to 844801 in the State. Active cases in the State currently stand at 34965.  The State has witnessed 883490 positive cases so far.

As many as 18 districts in the State recorded below 100 cases while infection figures dipped to a single digit in one district.

Khordha continues to see a dip in daily cases but still retains the top of the chart with 408 new positives followed by 272 in Cuttack, 260 in Jajpur. Balasore remained in the fourth position with 247 new infections.

Other districts registering triple digit figures in the single-day cases are Angul (110), Bhadrak(192), Jagatsinghpur (103), Kendrapara (116), Mayurbhanj (135), Nayagarh (112) and Puri (219).

Jharsuguda is only district which posted only three positive cases in the last 24 hours.
