Covid fatalities continue to remain above 50 even as the daily case count has been witnessing a dip for last several days in Odisha.
Amid decline in Covid-19 cases, Odisha reported a toll of 57 deaths due to the virus infection taking the overall number of fatalities to 4,415.

At least 10 fatalities were reported from Khordha district, five each from Bargarh, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Puri and Sundargarh four each from Dhenkanal, kalahandi and Koraput, three each from Angul and Mayurbhanj and one death each was reported from Balasore, Cuttack, Deogarh and Rayagada, the State Health Department informed.

“This list does not reflect deaths occurring on a particular day. It gives details of past deaths for which the death audit process has been duly completed and the cause of death has been identified as due to Covid-19,” the department tweeted.

The Covid positive tally in Odisha also rose to 9,32,330 after as many as 2,542 people tested positive for the virus on Thursday.

The active cases in the State reached 27, 580 while 9,00,282 patients have recovered, including 2,920 on Wednesday, from the disease so far.

Of the fresh Covid-19 cases reported from 30 districts, 1,458 are from quarantine centres, while the rest 1,084 are local contact cases, the data revealed by the I&PR Department stated.

Cuttack district reported the highest 428 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Khordha (424), Balasore (221), Kendrapara (167), Puri (150), Jajpur (139), Jagatsinghpur (128), Mayurbhanj (124) and Bhadrak (100).

The districts which registered below 100 cases are Nayagrh (78), Keonjhar (69), Angul (60), Sundargarh (57), Malkangiri (42), Koraput (40), Rayagada (37), Dhenkanal (34), Sambalpur (28), Jharsuguda (24), Kandhamal (19), Bargarh (17), Gajapati (15), Ganjam (13), Nabarangpur (12), Kalahandi (10), Nuapada (8), Deogarh and Boudh (7 each), Sonepur (5), Bolangir (2).

The State has so far tested over 1,42,63,163 samples for Covid-19, including 74,468 in the last 24 hours.
