The Odisha government has drawn up mega plans to speed up the Covid-19 vaccination drive which certainly holds the key in the ongoing fight against Coronavirus.

As per official sources, the State government will take up the vaccination in a campaign mode with a target to vaccinate 3 lakh beneficiaries per day starting from tomorrow (June 21).

At least 5 sessions will be planned in each block, 5 Sessions in each NAC, 10 sessions in each Municipality and at least 20 in each Municipal Corporations from tomorrow. Clear instructions have been issued to plan additional sessions over and above as per requirement.

The State government has also asked District officials to plan for both online and on-site sessions based on feasibility.

At the same time, the beneficiaries already due for 2nd dose shall be mobilized to ensure timely vaccination.

All Districts /Municipal commissioners have been directed to ramp up vaccination for 18 -44yr and >45 years in coming days.

The district wise target has been fixed as above to achieve 3 lakh vaccinations per day at State level. So far, the State government has administered 93.73 lakh doses since January 16. Out of which 17.97 lakh citizens have completed their two dose schedule and are fully vaccinated.

“The State target for 18 years and above is 3.09 crore citizens (6.18 crore doses). Presently, the average daily coverage is less than 1.5 lakh doses across the State. The Government of India will supply vaccine to our State based on the vaccine consumption & vaccine wastage rate,” said an official release.

Under revised strategy of COVID 19 Vaccination drive, the officials have been asked to expand the 18-44 years and >45 years vaccination drive in all blocks and ULBs in a campaign mode. The State government has also asked officials to completely consume available stock (Both central & State supply) within shortest possible time.
