The Covid-19 single-day cases continue to dip in Odisha with the State recording 5,896 new cases on Tuesday. With this, the positive tally in the State surged to 8,25,110 informed the State I&PR Department.

However, with at least 45 patients undergoing treatment for Covid-19 succumbing in the last 24 hours, the death toll has surged to 3,080 in the State, a data shared by the Health and Family Welfare Department said.

Of the fresh cases detected across 30 districts of the State on Tuesday, a total of 3,332 cases were reported from quarantine centers, while the rest 2,564 were local transmission cases.

Khordha district with 853 infections in the last 24 hours has the maximum cases among all districts followed by Jajpur (413), Angul (385), Balasore (373), Bhadrak (370), Cuttack (349) and Dhenkanal 306 cases.

Other districts which reported cases between 300 and 100 are- Mayurbhanj (261), Kendrapara (235), Jagatsinghpur (232), Nayagarh (177), Nawarangpur (174), Rayagada (166), Keonjhar (130), Koraput (129), Malkangiri (116) and Sundargarh (113).

A majority of western Odisha districts which became the hotspot in the initial stage of this second wave of the pandemic continue to witness fall in the virus cases. Some of them which have reported less than 100 cases are Bargarh (99), Sambalpur (92), Bolangir and Sonepur (77 each), Boudh (73), Kandhamal (65), Jharsuguda (54), Kalahandi (53), Gajapati (44), Nuapada (37). Similarly, Ganjam  has recorded 35 cases and Deogarh 22 in the last 24 hours.
