The rise in Covid-19 cases in Bhubaneswar is a matter of concern, said the Director of Odisha Health Services, Bijay Mohapatra, on Thursday.

Speaking to media, Mohapatra said, "Though the Covid-19 infection graph is fluctuating in the State, but the situation is under control. However, the present Covid-19 situation in Bhubaneswar is a matter of concern as the State Capital alone accounts 40 to 48 percent of the State's daily infections."

"The test positivity rate in Bhubaneswar is around 3.3 per cent. The districts have been split into three categories as per their total active Covid-19 caseload. As Khordha had over 2500 positive cases, it was in the Red zone yesterday. However, it is in Yellow zone now as the total positive tally has slumped to 2371," he added.

Notably, Odisha reported 521 new Covid-19 cases with 65 infections below 18 years of age in the last 24 hours. Of the new cases, 304 are from quarantine, while 217 are local cases.

According to a data released by the Information and Public Relations department, Khorda registered the highest 349 cases followed by Cuttack (60).

With this, the State's total case tally mounted to 10,33,809, while the active cases tally stood at 5,314.
