  • Unit 4 non-vegetarian market (wholesale & retail) and Bapuji Nagar market to remain closed till July 1, 2021

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday announced extension of closure of two markets in the capital city due to aggravating COVID-19 situation.

The closure of Unit 4 non-vegetarian market (wholesale & retail) and Bapuji Nagar market is extended up to 1 July 2021 because of aggravating COVID-19 situation in partial modification of BMC’s previous order.

The civic body said the curbs have been extended in large public interest and with a view to contain any further possibilities of spread of COVID-19 virus. The order came into immediate effect.

Shops dealing with essential commodities and medicines are exempted from the above order, the civic body added.

On June 18, the BMC had sealed Bapuji Nagar and Unit 4 non-veg market for violation of COVID rules. The curbs were initially imposed till June 25.

Yesterday, the BMC ordered the closure of Unit-1 inside haat (market) following reports of mass violation of Covid appropriate behaviour. As per the BMC order, the Unit-1 haat (Wholesale & Retail) will remain closed till July 1, 2021.
