"Today we hear that Congress is thinking about creating Telangana. They should take a final call on the issue and not delay it. They should bring a resolution in Parliament, we will support it," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javdekar said.
He said by not taking a final decision on the issue, Congress is betraying the sentiments of people who have fought for a separate Telangana state.
"Congress should also support Hyderabad as the new capital of the new state," he said. On Monday, Congress President Sonia Gandhi held a meeting and discussed the issue of Telangana with senior party leaders, including union Ministers, amid growing demands for an early decision on the matter.
Though the issue of Telangana was discussed, there was no decision.There is a growing pressure on the party high command to take an early decision on the politically volatile issue which has divided Andhra Pradesh on regional lines.
The Telangana issue was raised in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly also where opposition Telangana Rashtra Samiti members disrupted the proceedings demanding a resolution by the House seeking creation of the separate state.
