Big FASTag upgrade: Enjoy seamless highway travel with just Rs 3000 for 1 year

Private vehicle owners can now purchase and activate a FASTag annual pass directly through the Rajmargyatra mobile app. Priced at Rs 3,000, the pass offers one year of validity or a total of 200 toll transactions, whichever comes earlier.

It can be used at all toll plazas managed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) as well as the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).

The scheme is open to cars, jeeps, and vans that have an active FASTag account linked to the vehicle’s registration number, along with a sufficient balance. Once activated, the pass will remain valid until either the one-year period ends or the 200-trip limit is reached. After that, regular FASTag toll rates will be charged for each journey.

Step-by-Step Activation Process

The FASTag annual pass can be activated through the Rajmargyatra mobile app by following the below-mentioned steps.
1. Download the Rajmargyatra app -- Install the app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store on your smartphone.
2. Select 'Annual Pass' -- Open the app and choose the 'Annual Pass' option from the main menu.
3. Tap 'Pre Book' -- This begins the activation process.
4. Review instructions -- Read the on-screen guidelines. Keep your vehicle registration number and FASTag account details ready.
5. Enter the registered vehicle number -- Ensure the number matches the one linked to your FASTag.
6. Check eligibility -- The system will verify if your vehicle qualifies for the annual pass.
7. Mobile number verification -- Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number. This number will be used for alerts, balance updates and expiry reminders.
8. Review details -- Confirm that all entered information is correct before proceeding to payment.
9. Select payment mode -- Choose from UPI, credit/debit cards or net banking.
10. View price breakup -- The total cost will be displayed as Rs 3,000 before confirming payment.
11. Complete payment -- Once payment is made, the annual pass will be booked and linked to your FASTag account.

After activation, the pass can be used on all NHAI- and MoRTH-managed highways and expressways until either the 200-trip limit or the one-year validity period is reached.

Cost Advantage

For a commuter paying an average of Rs 50 per trip, 200 annual trips would cost about Rs 10,000. With the annual pass, the cost is fixed at Rs 3,000, providing clear savings for regular highway users.
