Ather Energy EV
Ather Energy has unveiled three new measures aimed at making its electric scooters more affordable upfront and easing customer concerns about long-term ownership. The company has introduced a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, widened the scope of its assured buyback programme, and rolled out an extended comprehensive warranty (ECW).
With the new BaaS model, buyers can get the family-focused Ather Rizta starting at Rs 75,999 and the performance-oriented 450 Series from Rs 84,341 (ex-showroom, Lucknow). These prices exclude the battery cost, which customers will instead pay for through flexible monthly usage plans beginning at Rs 1 per kilometre, based on a 48-month term and at least 1,000km per month.
According to Ather, this setup trims the Rizta’s upfront price by roughly 30%. Customers opting for BaaS will also enjoy one year of complimentary fast charging at over 3,300 Ather Grid points nationwide.
Initially introduced in February for select customers, Ather’s assured buyback programme has now been opened up to a larger audience. Under this scheme, owners can receive up to 60% of the scooter’s original value after three years, and up to 50% after four years, depending on usage. The programme is designed to give EV buyers more certainty about future resale values in a rapidly changing market.
The extended comprehensive warranty covers manufacturing defects on the battery and 11 other vital parts, including the motor, motor controller, charger, and dashboard, for up to five years or 60,000km, whichever comes first. The plan is available to all AtherStack Pro users and is intended to enhance confidence in long-term ownership.
