Bank holidays in January 2025: Here’s the full list released by RBI
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Thursday released a state-wise list of bank holidays in 2025. Due to India’s diverse regional celebrations, bank holidays in India vary by state while many holidays are observed nationally. So, the RBI has published a calendar of holidays that covers national events, and regional festivals every year.
Here’s a list of bank holidays for all the states in the month of January 2025.
1. January 1: Banks will be closed in Aizawl, Chennai, Gangtok, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Kolkata and Shillong for New Year.
2. January 2: Aizawl and Gangtok observe Loosong/Namsoong/New Year
3. January 6: Chandigarh banks closed for Sri Guru Gobind Singh’s birthday.
4. January 11: Aizawl and Imphal observe Missionary Day/Imoinu Iratpa.
5. January 14: Banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati,
6. Hyderabad, Itanagar, Kanpur and Lucknow for Makar Sankranti/Uttarayana Punyakala/Pongal/Maghe Sankranti/Magh Bihu/Birthday of Hazarat Ali.
7. January 15: Banks in Chennai will remain closed to observe Thiruvalluvar Day
8. January 16: Banks will remain shut in Chennai to observe Uzhavar Thirunal.
9. January 23: Banks in Agartala, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata will remain closed for Netaji Subas Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary and Vir Surendrasai Jayanti.
Apart from this, banks will remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays for all scheduled and non-scheduled banks.
