Kolkata: In the wake of killing of six civilians allegedly by armed CPI(M) cadres, Congress on Friday demanded the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee alleging the administration had totally spun out of his control.
"Jungle raj is prevailing in the state now. Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has totally lost control over the administration. He has no right to be in power for a single moment and should step down immediately," WBPCC president Manas Bhunia told reporters on the killings at Laqlgarh during the day.
Bhunia said he would inform the Prime minister, Union Home Minister, Finance minister and Congress president of the situation in the state.
Pointing out that the full bench of the Election Commission is arriving here tomorrow, he said "I will meet them and say that the situation here is such that this government should go at once."
Trinamool Congress Chief Whip in the Lok Sabha Sudip Bandopadhyay said assembly elections should be held in the state immediately. "The people`s verdict should be taken."
He said "CPI(M) is creating a drama in Delhi and resorting to politics of killing and terror in the state. We will see the end of it."
