New Delhi: Amid talk of formation of another front comprising non-Congress and non-BJP parties, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today said efforts are on to form a `federal front` of like minded parties. "We are not for third front or fourth front. We are for a federal front.... We are in the making of a federal front," BJD leader B Mahtab said outside Parliament. Naveen Patnaik-led BJD is in power in Odisha for the last 12 years.

Asked to elaborate, Mahtab said, "Federal front which recognises the view of every state and state leadership. Any party which supports the federal character of the country will be part of the front." He said currently more powers are vested in the Union Government. Whether Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will lead the Front, he said, "That can be said only by Naveen Patnaik himself. But we have not reached that stage. There are certain parties for early polls and there are also some parties who are not in favour of early polls." About his party`s view on early Lok Sabha polls, he said "We have not discussed it yet. Let the government fall first."
