8-year-old school girl narrowly escapes in another Ama Bus accident in Cuttack
In yet another road mishap involving an ‘Ama Bus’ in Cuttack, an eight-year-old school girl had a narrow escape after the vehicle ran over her bicycle on Saturday. The incident took place at Sati Choura Traffic Square when the girl, a Class IV student of a local school in Chandinichowk area, was returning home.
According to eyewitnesses, the Ama Bus hit her from behind, causing the girl and her bicycle to fall. While the front wheels of the bus crushed the bicycle and her schoolbag, the girl was flung to the roadside, miraculously escaping serious injury.
Local residents rushed to the spot and immediately informed the police. The Bidanasi Police reached the scene, seized the bus, and detained the driver for questioning.
The accident has once again raised concerns over the reckless driving by public transport vehicles in the city, especially in crowded areas during school hours.
Angry locals have demanded strict action against negligent drivers and better traffic regulation near school zones to prevent such incidents in the future.
Recently, on July 14, a youth was killed after being hit by an ‘Ama Bus’ near Barang Block Chhak in Cuttack district. The deceased was reportedly riding a motorcycle when the speeding bus, en route from Bhubaneswar to Cuttack, rammed into him from behind.
According to eyewitnesses, the impact of the collision was severe, and the youth was crushed under the wheels of the bus, resulting in his death.
