As many as 21 school students were injured, among whom three sustained critical injuries, after the pickup van they were travelling in overturned at Champa Ghati in Gajapati district’s Mohana area on Monday.  

While the identities of the students are yet to be ascertained, it is learned that they are the students of Chheligada High School. 

According to sources, about 25 students of Chheligada High School had gone to a sports event organised under ‘Nabin Odisha Yuva Odisha’ at R Udaygiri. On their way back, the van overturned at Champa Ghati, leaving all the students injured.

Of the injured students, 14 were admitted to R Udayagiri hospital and the rest seven to Chandragiri hospital. Later, three seriously injured students were shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. 

It is learned that the PET of the school was driving the van.
