School van plunges into pond
At least ten school students suffered injuries after the van they were travelling in met with an accident near Nalugunda on Chandbali-Bhadrak road in Bhadrak on Friday.
As per reports, the van carrying around ten students of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Vidyamandir was returning to drop the students at their respective homes. As it was nearing Nalugunda on Chandbali-Bhadrak road, the driver allegedly lost control of his vehicle that subsequently plunged into a roadside pond.

The students travelling in the van had a close shave but some of them sustained severe injuries.
Hearing the cries of the students, local people rushed to the spot, rescued the students and shifted them to Chandbali government hospital and Tihidi government hospital. Some were shifted to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
While the locals alleged reckless driving of the driver caused the mishap, they also alleged that the van lacked fitness certificate.
