According to the advisory, passengers using the railway network are urged to reach their respective stations at least one hour before the scheduled departure of their trains. Metro commuters are advised to plan their journeys so they arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the expected departure of their trains. Similarly, those flying out of Delhi airport have been asked to reach the terminal three hours before the scheduled departure of international flights.

Purpose Of The Advisory

Delhi Police stated that the instructions have been issued to facilitate the smooth movement of passengers amid intensified security checks at major railway stations, metro stations and the airport. The advisory aims to avoid last-minute inconvenience, reduce delays caused by mandatory screening procedures and ensure timely boarding during the ongoing security arrangements.

Focus On Passenger Convenience

Officials emphasised that the additional time is necessary to manage the increased security protocols currently in place. With the deployment of additional personnel and the introduction of stricter checking processes, authorities noted that queues at entry points may be longer than usual. The advisory, they added, is intended to help travellers plan their journeys more efficiently and avoid disruptions.

Delhi Police further appealed to passengers to cooperate with security personnel and adhere to all instructions at the transport hubs.

The advisory comes in the wake of a car explosion near the historic Red Fort in New Delhi on November 10, 2025, in which at least eight people were killed and over twenty injured.

The government formally classified the incident as a “terror incident” perpetrated by “anti-national forces”.
