The explosives had been seized as part of investigations into a terror module linked to Jaish‑e‑Mohammed (JeM) in which highly-qualified professionals were reportedly radicalised.

The probe revealed the network involved doctors and students in contact with foreign handlers. One suspect doctor arrested in October, Adeel Ahmad Rather, had been seen putting up JeM posters warning of attacks.

Further arrests included doctors Muzammil Shakeel and Shaheen Saeed in Haryana’s Faridabad where nearly 3,000 kg of ammonium nitrate was recovered.

The number of fatalities and injured may still change as authorities continue their assessment.
