New Delhi: The spat among bigwigs of Indian National Congress took an ugly turn on Monday after veteran leader and eminent lawyer Kapil Sibal lashed out at Rahul Gandhi over the latter’s “Colluding with BJP” remark. However, just hours later Sibal deleted his tweet by saying that the former party chief had informed him personally that he had never made the remark.

Sibal was among others who displayed their displeasure on the current proceedings of the Congress party and called for a complete revamp in the party right from the state units.

Sibal’s earlier tweet that is deleted now read, “Rahul says ‘we are colluding with BJP’. Succeeded in Rajasthan High Court defending the Congress Party. Defending party in Manipur to bring down BJP government. Last 30 years have never made a statement in favour of BJP on any issue. Yet ‘we are colluding with the BJP’!”

Little later, Sibal retracted his tweet and carried a clarification tweet.

“Was informed by Rahul Gandhi personally that he never said what was attributed to him.I therefore withdraw my tweet,” read his latest tweet.

His letter to the party chief, Sonia Gandhi seeking "full-time" leadership that is active in the field and "visible" in party offices during her medical treatment in Delhi did not augur well with Rahul Gandhi who termed him as “Colluding with BJP.”

As it turned out, not only Sibal but, Sanjay Jha, had also tweeted against Rahul’s allegations that he later deleted saying, “I am deleting this tweet as it is now confirmed that these words were not spoken during the CWC meeting by Mr Gandhi.”(With Agency Inputs)
