Kumar met Sadiq in Geneva on the sidelines of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meeting and made it clear that the sanctity of the Line of Control (LoC) has to be upheld as part of building trust.
During the meeting, the Lok Sabha Speaker said India desires peaceful, friendly and cooperative relations with Pakistan, and is also committed to resolving all outstanding issues bilaterally.
She hoped that "necessary climate is established" for advancing the bilateral relationship, and in this connection conveyed concern over continuing terror emanating from Pakistan and areas under its control, according to a statement issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat here.
Articulation of the concerns by her assumes significance as it comes against the backdrop of a major infiltration bid by terrorists with the support of Pakistan Army which led to a 15-day engagement between them and Army in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
Kumar stressed the need for dismantling terrorist networks within Pakistan's territory and also for upholding the sanctity of the LoC, which would be the most important Confidence Building Measure, the statement said. (MORE) PTI AKK
