This was decided at the meeting of the Directors General of Police of nine Maoist-affected states here today which was convened by the Home Ministry.
The Centre has also agreed to provide more helicopters to the states to help the state and paramilitary forces and night vision device to police forces fighting the naxals, sources said.
The DGPs of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa, Bihar, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and others also agreed to work in tandem in their operations against the ultras, particularly along the inter-state borders, to get better results.
The police chiefs also highlighted issues concerning needs of their respective forces and asked for liberal help from the Centre to modernise the state police forces to deal with the emerging threats.
The Home Minister also took stock of the security situation in the Maoists-hit states and reviewed the steps taken to deal with them.
Madhya Pradesh police chief S K Rout said he has requested the Home Ministry to include a few more Naxal- affected districts of the state under the Centrally-sponsored Integrated Action Plan to carry out development projects.
Bihar DGP Neelamani said Chidambaram appreciated the state police`s success in arresting several top Maoists leaders in the recent past.
According to the Home Ministry statistics, Naxal violence and the number of casualties have been reduced considerably in areas falling under 270 police stations in 64 districts in 8 states.
Up to June 14, 2011, there have been 811 incidents (1025 last year) resulting in 270 deaths (473 last year). Of the 270 persons who were killed, 190 were civilians (296 last year) and 80 personnel of the security forces (177 last year).
There have been 125 encounters between security forces and Left wing extremists and 78 extremists have been neutralised. Besides, 883 extremists have been arrested, 243 have surrendered and 315 arms have been recovered.
