As per reports, SI Mohanty was shot at on Sunday night while trying to nab miscreants who were forcibly extorting money from people. The miscreants fled the spot immediately after committing the crime. Mohanty who sustained serious injury due to the firing was rushed to hospital for medical assistance.
Similarly, a man was shot dead and his son-in-law was critically injured in Bilipadiasahi village of Banki, Cuttack. The former was identified as Chakradhara Sahoo and the later as Pinaki Mantri.
The duo was attacked on Sunday night by one of Mantri’s cousin along with his father-in-law when they were asleep.
While Chakradhara died on the spot, Mantri sustained grievous injuries and was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
The reason behind the firing has been ascertained as family feud.
