Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today laid the foundation of a mini Secretariat in Doda district, saying the present District Development Commissioner`s office was housed in a 50-year-old barrack type structures which was "inadequate" and "insufficient".

Laying the foundation of Rs 21.56 crore structure, Omar said "prompt response to the needs of people and timely delivery should be the benchmark of government functionaries. The construction of the mini secretariat in Doda was felt for a long time now as the existing District Development Commissioner`s office is housed in a 50-year-old barrack type structures which is inadequate and insufficient for smooth functioning of the office."
