In another good news ahead of the festive season, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has come up with some changes in order to help lakhs of railway commuters get train tickets at a much cheaper rate.

As per sources, IRCTC is offering a discount of 10 per cent if you book tickets through its official website – www.irctc.co.in. However, it may be noted that passengers can only avail the discount only if they book tickets through digital platforms like Paytm and MobiKwik.

While Paytm offers a cashback of Rs 100 on ticket bookings through its platform, MobiKwik is offering 10% discount. A few sources also claimed that the Flipkart owned-PhonePe is also offering a cashback of Rs 100 if you book tickets through its platform.

Here's How To Avail The Offer:

(a) Visit IRCTC (www.irctc.co.in) or mobile application.
(b) Log in using your username and password.
(c) Fill in your travel details.
(d) Enter captcha code
(e) Click on proceed to payment.
(f) In the payment mode, choose the e-wallet options.
(g) Choose either from Paytm, Freecharge or Mobikwik to avail the offer.

The passengers can also avail an instant discount of 5 per centy on train tickets if they pay using Unified Payments Interface (UPI) including BHIM application. The railways is offering the discount to promote cashless transactions, officials said.

Recently in a release, the Railways had stated, "UPI/BHIM is also accepted as payment option while booking tickets through counter. 5% discount on the total value of basic fare in Passenger Reservation System (PRS) reserved counter ticket is given for payments made through UPI including BHIM subject to maximum amount of discount of Rs 50 on a ticket and value of ticket being Rs 100 and more."

However, there is no discount on tickets below Rs 100.
