The two sides will also discuss collaboration for training of peace-keepers and various other cooperative arrangements during the Joint Working Group (JWG) here.
The meeting of the JWG assumes significance as it is meeting after two years and is a result of the visit of US President Barack Obama, who pushed for giving India greater role in the global affairs, sources told PTI today.
At the day-long meeting, the Indian side will be led by Joint Secretary (UN-Political) Harsh Vardhan Shringla while the US delegation will be headed by Esther Brimmer, Assistant Secretary of State for International Organisation Affairs.
The delegations will include senior officials of the department of defence and other departments concerned.
Among the topics on the table are working out of arrangements for peace-keeping operations, collaboration in third countries on demand, collaboration in training and solutions to the challenges to peace-keeping, including protection of civilians, the sources said.
Besides the talks, the US delegation will visit some training centres of Indian security forces and have a presentation by a CRPF commandant who is leading the world`s only women`s peace-keeping contingent in Liberia.
The two sides are expected to come out with an `Outcome Document` after the talks, the sources said.
The JWG meeting is significant as the US has a major role to play in peace-keeping and other UN operations while India is one of the top troop contributors and is keen to take greater responsibility in global affairs, including in peace and security.
The outcome of the meeting would form part of the upcoming Indo-US Strategic Dialogue to be held next month for which Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will visit here.
