Jagan, son of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, who has been issued notice in connection with the mining case will be questioned by CBI officials under section 161 CrPC.
The Kadapa MP appeared before the central probe agency at Koti here at around 10.30 am. He will be questioned only in connection with the mining case and not with regard to his alleged disproportionate assets matter, CBI officials had on Thursday said.
The agency is probing alleged nexus between Jagan and Janardhana Reddy whose company OMC has been accused of violating mining norms in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, CBI sources said.
The CBI recently questioned the then cabinet colleagues of late Rajasekhara Reddy including State Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy (who was then Mining Minister) in connection with the mining scam as it found that mining leases for OMC were cleared in an unusual haste, sources had earlier said.
Meanwhile, scores of supporters and party workers of YSR Congress also flocked near the CBI office even as security was stepped up around the agency office.
The supporters raised slogans against Congress President Sonia Gandhi and also against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
Vijay Sai Reddy, the vice-president of Jagati Publications owned by Jaganmohan Reddy, who has been earlier questioned on several occasions by the CBI in connection with investments made by various companies into the businesses of Jagan also accompained Jagan to the CBI office.
