Hanamkonda police, who were probing the matter, however said investigations were underway to ascertain the exact reasons for the death. When asked whether it was a case of suicide for the Telangana cause, a senior police officer said, "investigations were still on." Meanwhile, the charred body of Rajamouli, was shifted to Mahatma Gandhi memorial hospital for conducting autopsy.
Rajamouli`s death is the second such incident in the last two-days after L Bhojya Naik, a second-year MBA student died in Hanamkonda town on Saturday night after immolating himself reportedly depressed over alleged anti-Telangana statements of some Congress and TDP leaders. Pro-Telangana leaders, claim that around 800 persons, particularly students ended their lives for formation of Telangana since November 2009, when the series of agitations demanding statehood to the region began.
Meanwhile, pro-Telangana activists allegedly damaged a statue of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi near Kashibugga area in Warangal town and hurled stones at the residence of BC Welfare Minister Basavraj Saraiah while the funeral procession of Rajamouli was taken out from the MGM hospital this evening. The pro-Telangana activists damaged Gandhi`s statue by hitting it with stones and later set it on fire even as police chased them away.
Hanamkonda Police, investigating Rajamouli`s death found a letter from the spot of the incident, purportedly written by Rajamouli and addressed to Warangal District Superintendent of Police in which he accused the traffic police of imposing a fine of Rs 1,000 and seizing his auto-rickshaw despite having necessary documents and appealed for releasing the auto as he (Rajamouli) was not in a position to pay the penalty. However, the TRS activists alleged that the letter found by the police was a "fabricated" one and demanded to see the original "suicide note" written by Rajamouli.
