New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: In a relief to the retired government employees, an official order has been recently issued stating that the constant attendant allowance for them has increased from the existing Rs 4,500 to Rs 6,750 per month.
After the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission, the government has initiated the move to increase the allowance for the retired government employees.
The allowance is sanctioned if, in the opinion of a competent medical authority, a 100% disabled retired employee needs the services of a constant attendant for at least three months, PTI reported.
As per the order issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, the allowance has been hiked to Rs 6,750 from Rs 4,500 per month.
The order will be effective from July 1, 2017. The constant attendant allowance is paid in addition to the disability pension.
On the other hand, resentment has been brewing among the Central government employees against the hike in salary and allowances approved by the Narendra Modi-led BJP government as per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission.

Worth mentioning that all hopes lost for the lakhs of Central government employees as the government will not reconsider on the basic pay, hike in salary and allowances as recommended by the 7th Pay Commission and approved by the Cabinet. The government has ruled out any change in the minimum pay, Rs 18,000, under the Pay Commission.
