Bhopal/Bhubaneswar: At a time when the Central government employees continue to press their demands for hike in the minimum pay, the Madhya Pradesh government on Wednesday announced increased Dearness Allowance (DA) to its employees.
An increase of 2 per cent in DA as per the 7th Pay Commission's recommendation and 3 per cent as per 6th pay panel had been done, officials said.
Pankaj Agarwal, Finance Department Principal Secretary, ordered that the DA would be increase as per both the pay panels has been increased with effect from January 2018 and payable from February 2018 onwards, IANS reported.
According to officials, the decision on payment of increased DA was taken in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Recently, the Narendra Modi-led BJP government on Tuesday cleared the Delhi government’s minimum wage amendment.
Delhi’s chief minister Arvind Kejriwal informed about the development through a Twitter message.
Kejriwal tweeted, “Finally, central government gives its approval after several months. This will act as a strong deterrent against the employers who do not pay full minimum wages. Delhi government will take strong action against such people.”
On the other hand, the Central government employees have been demanding a hike the minimum pay from the present Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000- an increase in the fitment factor 3.68 times from the existing 2.57 times. Besides, earlier, reports were that the government was mulling to increase the minimum by to Rs 21,000 under seventh pay commission against the demands of the employees but nothing has been materialized yet.
