President Droupadi Murmu has arrived on a three-day visit to her home district Mayurbhanj on Thursday and visited her in-law's village Pahadpur in Rairangpur sub-division. The President reached Kalaikunda Air Force station in West Bengal on May 4, from where she traveled by helicopter to Badampahar helipad and reached Pahadpur.
The President laid the foundation stone for the Skill Training Hub and Community Centre at Pahadpur on May 4. Subsequently, she visited the Brahma Kumaris Centre, Hatbadra where she launched the ‘Addiction Free Odisha’ campaign of Brahma Kumaris Centre. On the same evening, the President attended a civic reception hosted in her honour by the Rairangpur Municipality at Rairangpur Stadium.
On May 5, the President will pay her tributes to Pandit Raghunath Murmu on his birth anniversary. Later, she will visit Similipal Sanctuary.
The President will grace the 12th convocation of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University at Baripada on May 6 before winding up her visit. Murmu had visited the state twice earlier after assuming office in July 2022 and this time her visit will be confined to Mayurbhanj district.

An electricity dept employee of the university has been suspended; three-member team constituted for probe, says university vice-chancellor.
“You all should be job givers rather than job seekers. Work for the betterment of the country,” President Droupadi Murmu urged students while delivering her address during the 12th convocation of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University at Baripada on Saturday.

MSCB University VC Prof Santosh Tripathy seeks apology for the incident. "IDCO had constructed the building and also repaired the generator. Though we had a dedicated generator, it didn't work. We will inquire into the entire incident."
