“I Settled Eight Wars”: Trump Reiterates India-Pakistan Mediation Claim

US President Donald Trump has once again claimed that he played a decisive role in preventing a major war between India and Pakistan, asserting that his intervention helped avert a nuclear conflict. Trump said he had settled “eight big wars,” some of which had lasted for decades, and cited India-Pakistan tensions as one of the most critical flashpoints.

Trump said, “Whether people like Trump or don't like Trump, I settled eight wars- big ones. Some going on for 36 years, 32, 31, 28, 25 years.”

Claiming that “eight jets were shot down in the air,” Trump said the situation was resolved “in rapid order without nuclear weapons.” He further said that no one in history deserved the Nobel Peace Prize more than him, asserting that his actions had saved “tens of millions of lives.” Trump also referred to a public statement by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, claiming that his intervention had prevented a conflict that could have claimed at least ten million lives.

India, however, has consistently rejected any claims of third-party mediation, maintaining that the ceasefire understanding was reached directly between New Delhi and Islamabad. The Indian government has said the de-escalation followed Operation Sindoor, launched after the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people were killed.
