Chilli Chicken Recipe

Chilli chicken is a popular Indo-Chinese dish of chicken, which you can find in small roadside shops to high-end restaurants across. There are many variations of this popular dish. Though mainly boneless chicken is used in this dish, some people also recommend using chicken with bones too. This Indo-Chinese chicken curry is a great combination with rotis, parathas, fried rice, and noodles.

Ingredient required

  1. 500 gm Chicken
  2. Salt
  3. 1/2 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  4. 1/2 tsp Red Chili Powder
  5. 2 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  6. 1 tsp Vinegar
  7. 2 tsp Soy Sauce
  8. 1 Beaten Egg
  9. 3 tbsp Maida (All Purpose Flour)
  10. 3 tbsp Corn Flour
  11. Oil for Frying
  12. FOR SAUCE:
  13. 2 tbsp Oil
  14. 1 tbsp Ginger Finely Chopped
  15. 1 tbsp Garlic Finely Chopped
  16. 3-4 green chilies
  17. Onion cut in Cubes
  18. Capsicums cut in Cubes
  19. Salt & Pepper
  20. 3 tbsp Tomato Sauce
  21. 1 tbsp Chili Sauce

How to make

  1. Take chicken in a mixing bowl and add salt & pepper to taste, vinegar, soy sauce, egg white, maida, and cornstarch, mix and coat the chicken well.
  2. Heat oil in a pan for frying and shallow fry the coated chicken strips on both sides, only till the chicken softens or is light golden in color, do not overcook them.
  3. Remove it on absorbent paper and keep it aside.
  4. Set another pan on high heat, add oil, garlic, ginger, and green chillies, and sauté it for a minute.
  5. Add onions, and capsicum mix well, and sauté it for a minute.
  6. Add spring onions and continue to sauté on high flame.
  7. Add soy sauce, red chilli sauce, salt & pepper to taste, and water, mix well & cook for a minute.
  8. Add water and cornstarch mixture and cook until the sauce thickens. Add the fried chicken strips and toss well with the sauce.
  9. Add vinegar and freshly chopped spring onion greens; mix well and cook for last 1 minute. Chili Chicken is ready to serve
