Fifteen years after Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara turned friendship and freedom into a cinematic anthem, the road trip may be gearing up for another ride. Zoya Akhtar is reportedly revisiting the lives of Arjun, Imran, and Kabir, hinting at a mature, reflective sequel that captures where life has taken them since that unforgettable Spanish escape.
Industry chatter suggests the filmmaker has quietly shaped an early version of the sequel’s story and is preparing for her next directorial chapter.

A Story That Grows With its Characters
According to a Mid-Day report, the original trio- Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, and Abhay Deol- could reunite on screen, this time portraying men in their 40s. Rather than chasing the carefree rush of youth, the narrative reportedly slows down to explore evolving friendships, shelved dreams, and the emotional weight of time.
A source close to the project told the publication, “Zoya has finally locked a draft she is happy with. She was always clear that a sequel to ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ would only happen if it had something new to say."
The insider added, "It’s not a nostalgic rehash; the film acknowledges the time elapsed and the changes that have taken place in the three men’s lives."
Casting Conversations Begin
Discussions with the lead actors have reportedly begun. The makers are keen on bringing back the beloved trio, but calendars remain the biggest hurdle.
As the insider explained, “The intent is to reunite the boys, but it all depends on alignment of dates."
If schedules fall into place, production is expected to roll later this year.
Farhan and Zoya's Focus On Other Projects
Farhan Akhtar has resumed work on Jee Le Zaraa, first announced in 2021 with Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt, after delays caused by scheduling conflicts and Ranveer Singh’s exit from Don 3.

Zoya Akhtar, on the other hand, is currently focused on producing Dahaad 2. Only after completing this project is she expected to shift her full attention to the much-anticipated sequel.
For fans, it appears the journey isn’t over yet- just older, wiser, and perhaps even more meaningful.
