Sunil Grover is making a comeback to television with a new comedy show Gangs of Filmistan. As is known the actor got his name through Comedy Nights with Kapil. But after his fallout with Kapil Sharma, he decided not to work with the famous standup comedian again. Even though the two are now on talking terms, Sunil decided to make a comeback with a new show.

But even this new show has a connection with Kapil Sharma. According to reports Preeti Simoes worked as a creative director for Comedy Nights with Kapil. Preeti herself stated that she was in a relationship with Kapil for around eight years. A close friend of Kapil, Rajeev Dhingra went on the record to say, "Preeti and her sister Neeti are “responsible for driving Kapil into depression”.

Now the same team of Preeti and Neeti is coming up with a comedy show Gangs of Filmistan. In 2018, Dhingra made a controversial claim. He said, "Preeti is responsible for driving Kapil into depression. She harassed me as well and tried to instigate him against me. As soon as she learned that he was marrying his girlfriend Ginni (Chatrath), she vowed to destroy him and turn his friends against him. All the controversies in Kapil’s life happened only in the last one year after Preeti vowed to destroy him.”

Will Sunil Grover's New Show Pose Threat To The Kapil Sharma Show?

Post marriage, Kapil Sharma seems to be in a happy space. The Kapil Sharma Show that completed a year last year is doing well. But it is a fact that people do miss special characters like Gutthi and Mashoor Gulati played earlier by Sunil Grover. Now the same actor is coming up in a totally new avatar.

However, the show will have an entirely different format than Kapil's show sans any live audience or celebrity guests. While talking to media about his new iconic character Sunil said, "I come with a new character, but with same old intentions. I hadn’t planned on doing a show, but the offer was too good to pass up.” Rather the Bharat actor will be playing a don who wants people to entertain him. Incidentally, it is the same team that backed the production of Sunil's earlier comedy program Kanpur Wale Khuranas. But the show could not get a good response.

As of now, it does not appear as if Gangs of Filmistan will any way pose a threat to The Kapil Sharma Show. Stars who will join Sunil Grover in Gangs of Filmistan include Shilpa Shinde, Siddharth Sagar, Sanket Bhosale, Sugandha Mishra, Paritosh Tripathi, and Jatin Suri. The show will air on Star Bharat from August 31 onwards.
