Actor Sonu Sood found himself in the middle of a controversy on Thursday after he took to Twitter to share his wishes on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. He appealed to his fans to help someone in need instead of posting Lord Shiva’s picture on the auspicious occasion. However, this irked a section of netizens who started slamming the actor for his ‘double standards.

Sonu Sood took to Twitter early morning today and wrote, "Rather than forwarding Lord Shiva's images, celebrate Maha Shivratri by helping someone in need. Om Namah Shivaay."

This tweet of the Bollywood actor took the internet by storm with people starting to share his tweets and wishes on other festivals and comparing with today. While some expressed their disappointment while comparing him with Tollywood stars, others called him out for telling them how should they celebrate their festivals which he doesn’t do on other festivals, and soon #WhoTheHellAreUSonuSood started trending on Twitter.

Soon after the matter escalated into a huge hullabaloo, Sonu Sood shared a picture of Lord Shiva with the caption, “Omm Namah Shivaya 🙏” Netizens pointed out how it was a gesture only to extinguish the fire but the damage had already been done.

Actor Sonu Sood turned into a Messiah for many during the COVID-19 pandemic after he was seen extending all kinds of help to students, medical patients, and others. However, some pointed fingers at his intentions and even called it a PR gimmick.
